LUDLOW, Vt. (AP) — Ludlow police and detectives from the Vermont State Police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found in a home where she had been house-sitting, police said.

Ludlow police were called to the home on North Hill Cross Road on Thursday evening where officers found the body of Bonnie Lapointe, 49, of Windsor. Ludlow police then asked the state police for assistance.

An autopsy was completed Friday. The cause and manner of Lapointe’s death are pending the results of toxicology tests.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman had been house-sitting at the residence and was last heard from on Wednesday morning. There are no indications to suggest any threat to public safety.
