BILLERICA, MASS. (WHDH) - Police are searching for an armed man they believe is behind two robberies in Billerica.

The first robbery happened at a liquor store on Salem Road. About 30 minutes later, a convenience store about 2 miles away was also robbed.

In both robberies, police said the male suspect was armed with a knife. One witness described the weapon as a hunting knife.

At the convenience store, one woman was so scared, she needed to go to the hospital. She was physically OK.

A man who lives nearby the first store said he thinks he saw the suspect running away from the scene.

The potential witness described the man as tall, skinny and wearing a hat. He said he watched him speed off in a black, shiny Senata, likely with the windows tinted.

Police are hoping to release surveillance video in both robberies soon.

The investigation is ongoing.
