LYNNFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - A reunion party took a tragic turn after a man was shot and killed at a home in Lynnfield.

Police said they responded to Needham Road for a report of a shooting at a house party around 3:00 a.m.

Investigators said the party got out of control, and the man ended up being shot and killed.

The victim was later identified as 33-year-old Keivan Heath of Randolph.

“We’re shocked and disappointed,” homeowner Alex Styler said.

Styler rented out his mansion to a group of people who wanted to host their college reunion.

“It was supposed to be about 20 people, and turned out to be a much bigger party,” Styler said. “I do believe probably the party went out of hand and uninvited people came in.”

Investigators said between 60 and 100 people showed up.

Police said Heath was shot several times in the chest. He was taken to Lynn Union Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Styler said he doesn’t know why the man was shot, or where on his property the deadly shooting happened.

He spoke with the men renting his home, who he says seemed like nice, responsible people.

“They’re in shock,” Styler said. “They’re very sorry and they feel bad what happened. They didn’t expect it to turn out this way.”

Styler said his home is for sale, and that he’s been renting it out for nearly a year.

He claims he does his due diligence when it comes to approving rentals, and that he has a strict “no party” rule.

“My position is clear,” he said. “I rejected 50 inquiries about different types of parties.”

The incident is under investigation by state police and Lynnfield police. No arrests have been made.
