MANCHESTER, N.H. (WHDH) - Police are searching for the person who allegedly shot two people in Manchester, New Hampshire Saturday night.
According to Manchester police, officers responded to Union Street and Auburn Street for a report of multiple gunshots shortly before 9:00 p.m.
When police arrived, they found a 16-year-old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound to his back at the basketball courts in the area of Beech Street and Green Street.
The victim was accompanied by 18-year-old Michael Cartagena of Manchester.
Before the shooting, the victim and Cartagena were reportedly playing basketball when they decided to go to the Dollar Deluxe Store at Union Street to buy drinks.
Soon after leaving the store, they heard what sounded like multiple gunshots behind them, and they fled the area. When they arrived at the basketball courts, they realized the 16-year-old had been shot in the back.
He was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
Officers also located a second possible victim at Down the Block Convenience on Hanover Street.
The victim, identified as 59-year-old Elaine Dugas of Manchester, said she heard multiple gunshots while she was sitting outside the store. She sustained an injury to the top of her foot, but refused medical attention.
According to police, witnesses reported a man was seen fleeing the area. He was described as a Hispanic man of an unspecified age and weight, who was approximately 5’5” tall. He was also described as having short hair and wearing a white tank top and light blue jeans.
The suspect was allegedly holding a handgun when he fled.
