A man is wanted in connection with a stabbing that took place in Roxbury on Tuesday.

A 75-year-old man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after he told police he was stabbed outside his home in the area of Burrell Street.

James Barton told police someone tried robbing him outside of his home. He tried to whack the suspect with his cane but ended up getting stabbed. Barton then went into his house and called police.

Police released a photo of the suspect. They said he demanded money, but Barton tried to fight him off.

Barton’s family said he was walking home from a convenience store around the corner, where he had just won money off of a scratch ticket. They said they believe the suspect noticed Barton had won money, and decided to rob him.

On Thursday, police also released a surveillance photo of a woman. They said she is not a suspect in the case, but they are calling her a person of interest.

Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call police.
