LOWELL, MASS. (WHDH) - Police say they are searching for a suspect or suspects following the beating death of a woman over the weekend.

Authorities have identified 44-year-old Gloribel Orengo as the woman who died following a fight outside a party in Lowell.

The incident happened in a parking lot at Westminster Village Apartments on Pawtucket Boulevard.

The Middlesex District Attorney’s Office says it is investigating the death of Orengo as a homicide.

Authorities say Orengo was one of several people involved in a fight outside a home after being asked to leave a party.

Orengo was rushed to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Friends and family were heartbroken over the loss of Orengo.

Orengo’s family, grieving what they say was an unnecessary fight and loss of a loved one, say Orengo was beaten right in front of her 28-year-old special needs son.

“I’m very angry that someone would stoop that low,” said Jaslyn Rosario, Orengo’s niece.

Lowell Police ask anyone with information that could help the investigation to contact them.
