BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WHDH) — A Hyannis woman was arrested this week, accused of stealing toys meant for her neighbor’s children on Christmas Eve.

Police say Janice Tully, 49, drove the parents to a toys for tots pick up location but when her trunk was full she allegedly ditched her neighbors, telling them that she would drop the toys off later.

She had $500 worth of toys on her when she left the couple at the mall.

The couple had to take a taxi back. When they confronted Tully, she told them that the toys were gone, but gave several versions as to where they went.

Police were able to recover some of the toys from her trunk, but the majority of them are still missing. Tully refused to reveal the location of the other toys to police.

The toys have been replaced with other donations.

She will be arraigned in Barnstable District Court Thursday after being charged with felony larceny of property over $250. She was held through Christmas Day in a holding cell.
