The Vatican is clearing up any confusion about the Pope’s meeting with Kim Davis.

In a statement, they say Francis’s meeting with the Kentucky clerk shouldn’t be seen as an endorsement for her decision not to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

Davis has said it’s against her religious beliefs.

The Vatican says the meeting happened because of the pope’s "kindness and availability."
