BOSTON (WHDH) - A popular sunscreen brand is recalling three production batches of its sunscreen due to trace levels of a carcinogen, benzene.

The product, Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 aerosol sprays, have not caused any known adverse effects to date.

“We are conducting this recall out of an abundance of caution and are advising consumers to stop using the affected product immediately and appropriately discard,” the company said on its website.

Banana Boat clarified that no other batches of the Hair & Scalp product before or after the specified batch codes nor any other Banana Boat product is affected by the recall.

The recalled products are all Banana Boat Hair & Scalp Spray SPF 30, 6 oz. and have the UPC number 0-79656-04041-8. The lot codes are 20016AF with an expiration date of December 2022, 20084BF with an expiration of February 2023 and 21139AF with an expiration of April 2024.
