The name of the tallest mountain in North America has officially been changed.

Alaska’s Mount McKinley is now Denali.

Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell signed an order which makes the name change effectively immediately.

The change comes just a day before President Obama was expected to arrive in Alaska for an historic three-day visit.

The President said he was going to give the 20,300-foot mountain it’s traditional Alaska native name.

Denali, which stands for great one, had been named after former President William McKinley.

Alaskans have informally called the mountain by its native name for years.
