SOMERVILLE, MASS. (WHDH) - The royals spent part of their second day in Boston at Greentown Labs in Somerville, where they discussed the work the lab is doing to help the climate crisis.
During their much-anticipated visit Thursday, Prince William and Princess Catherine of Wales learned about some of the startups that are currently collaborating with the company to make a global impact.
The royal couple is in Boston for the 2022 Earthshot Prize Awards Ceremony on Friday.
Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone said the couple asked poignant questions and seemed curious about the revolutionary ideas that are being cultivated by these climate pioneers.
A large crowd of Somerville residents gathered to welcome the couple to the area.
Monica Calvo said she was pleased to see the royals taking such an interest in climate change, which she said is for many an underappreciated issue.
Marlena Cole agreed, saying it’s important that “people in power work with the people like us and people in the community really care about that.”
