PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The outdoor skating rink in downtown Providence has opened for the season after a day's delay due to heavy rains.

The Providence Rink across from Kennedy Plaza had been scheduled to open on Wednesday but bad weather pushed the opening back to Thursday afternoon.

Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. General admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Skate rentals and season passes are available.

Mayor Angel Taveras is planning to attend a tree lighting at the rink on Dec. 7.

The outdoor skating rink in Newport is scheduled to open on Dec. 6.
