BANGOR, MAINE (WHDH) — Two officers from the Bangor, Maine Police Department took on a special mission to deliver a puppy to her new family just before the holidays.
The officers, Perry and Place, had been traveling with the Wreaths Across America Convoy to Arlington National Cemetery. That is when they agreed to, “bring a rescue puppy back from Virginia.”
The two officers were joined on the adventure by a veteran and troop greeter, 85-year-old Marion “Rud” Rudnicki, for what the police department called the”Perfect PoPo Christmas Puppy Pass-off.”
The puppy, named Tessa, was delivered in Waldoboro on December 17 and appeared to be delighted about her new family.
Tessa was the only Christmas gift her owner, Chris, would be receiving this year due to her family being overseas.
“Some of her kids and their families are serving this country far away from Maine this year. Her Christmas was not how she envisioned a Christmas should be. The puppy was her only Christmas present and for a time it did not appear that she would be able to get Tessa home anytime soon,” read the Facebook post.
