Temperature land slide today! Highs only managed the low 40s – and a few spots stayed in the upper 30s!

Mainly clear skies set us up for a ground-hardening freeze tonight. Only thing precluding us from a guaranteed coldest night of the season in Boston will be some clouds sneaking in late night and a breeze. Past history suggests this breeze is significant enough to keep us just under freezing in the city (or rather Logan Airport…where the thermometer is).

Stunningly bright skies today will yield to a few clouds tomorrow. And after another day of dazzling sun on Wednesday, I am concerned about more gray in the forecast for Thanksgiving.

Upon further review, a breeze off the water will help build some afternoon clouds. While this is small potatoes (and carrots, and peas or whatever else you’re having for sides), it will create that "it-looks-like-it may-rain at any time" sky. Nevertheless, we’ll still move the needle above normal. Highs should average around the low and mid 50s.

Speaking of the risk for showers, I’m seeing mostly dry and tame weather through the entire holiday weekend. The only exception may be Friday night and early Saturday with a cool front cruising by. This front will also be responsible for a dramatic warm-up and a huge crash between Friday and Saturday. 60s to 40s kind of thing.

Ready, set, hike!

Go PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
