Our weather certainly is quiet…..once again, no complaints here, especially after our historic winter but filling up this blog is trying. In due time our pattern will turn stormy again…especially later this fall & winter as it looks like an El Nino winter is shaping up. Just a few nuggets about El Nino and New England:

*The El Nino effects are light to moderate most years as New England is also affected by high latitude blocking near the north pole…this blocking can kink the jet stream (like a garden hose) in a fashion that sends cold air this way despite an El Nino winter.

*Typically El Nino winters in New England offer normal to slightly above normal temps—not bitter cold temps like we have seen the past two winters.

*El Nino winters can either mean below OR above normal snowfall—I think there is this misconception about El Ninos causing snowless winters in New England. Last winter Boston had over 200% of it’s normal snowfall (110")!! We won’t have that much this winter, I think we’ll probably finish close to normal snowfall (45")..maybe a bit more (60").

Whoa….I think I just gave out a winter forecast….general ideas more than specifics. Anywho….We will continue with our sunshine pattern into the weekend and the warmth will last until Sunday. At that time a cool front comes at us with more clouds–a few sprinkles are possible Sunday Morning–and temps back to where we should be for this time of year..low to mid 70s.

Enjoy!
