Quincy Police are searching for a suspect after 16 headstones were vandalized overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

According to the Quincy Police Facebook page, the headstones at the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery on Sea Street were knocked over.

A groundskeeper told police when he arrived Wednesday morning he noticed headstones were no longer in the upright position.

Some of the headstones date back to the 1800s.

According to police, this is the third time in a four-month period that vandals have desecrated headstones at this cemetery. On Nov. 9, 2015, nine headstones were knocked over. One incident was not reported to police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
