March 28th, 2015……our last measurable snowfall in the city of Boston..just over 9 months to the day is our next! Yup, like it or not, here comes winter! Thankfully, we will get reacquainted with the Old Man at a leisurely pace with this storm.
Here are some deets:
* Snow arrives 2-4am Tuesday
* Changes to sleet, freezing rain & rain between 7-11am—fastest along coast from Boston-South and likely never does change to plain rain from Worcester-Fitchburg & Nashua, rather ending as freezing drizzle early afternoon.
*Snowfall amounts are manageable—you can view them in our *special* map section….general coating-1" in the city (and south) with 1-3" of snow out in metrowest through Worcester & up into the Merrimack valley.
* After the snowfall, plan on .10-.20" of ice on top of that snow—-weighing down that snow as well as some ice buildup on trees & power lines. Some power disruption is possible in Worcester county-southern NH but nothing like Ice Storm ’08
*Due to this being a school vacation week, I’d plan on moderate travel disruption away from the coast for the Tuesday morning commute with some improvement for the afternoon commute.
See, that sounds easy! The rest of the holiday week offers seasonal temps with a few rain showers overnight Wednesday but no risk of snow or ice. Dry & chilly weather is expected for First Night festivities (temps near 32 midnight Friday).
More on our storm over in twitter, as needed.
