BOSTON (WHDH) - The Boston Red Sox cancelled a David Ortiz bobblehead giveaway Tuesday, just hours before the game, calling the figurines offensive.
The Red Sox released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying the bobbleheads were “unacceptable to the club and not appropriate for distribution.”
New bobbleheads will be issued to all ticketed fans at a later date. Fans who attended Tuesday’s game hoping for a bobblehead told 7News they were disappointed with the news.
“I came all the way from Miami just for the bobblehead,” said Anthony Antigua, who came from Miami. “It’s a shame they won’t be giving it out today.”
