FOXBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Patriots defensive tackle Alan Branch has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

Schefter says Branch tested positive for marijuana. Branch is expected to appeal the suspension.

Branch, 31, is a 6-foot-6, 350-pound lineman out of the University of Michigan. He’s been a key cog in the Patriots’ run defense, but this isn’t his first controversial issue this year — he was suspended by the team for one week during training camp for unspecified reasons.

Branch has 33 tackles and one sack in 10 games this season.
