NORTHBORO, MASS. (WHDH) - A fire broke out at a Northborough home early Sunday morning.

The fire happened on Hudson Street around 3:30 a.m.

According to fire officials, one of the residents was awakened by the smoke detectors.

Another resident went to investigate the fire and attempted to extinguish it with a garden hose while officials were being called.

All other people in the house were evacuated.

Officials said one resident was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

One firefighter was also treated at the scene for an ankle injury.

The fire was under control within 90 minutes. Crews remained on scene throughout the morning to extinguish the remainder of the smoldering fires areas.

The home is no longer habitable.

Firefighters from Westborough, Shrewsbury, Berlin and five other towns assisted.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
