Dear Canada, we have found your cold air lingering around New England.  Please take it back.

Yikes, while we’re just above record lows this morning in Boston and in Worcester, we certainly have plenty of cold air in place with many towns running in the teens.  Even a few single digits are popping up in the colder spots northwest of 495.

At least the skies are clear this morning and that’ll allow for a decent deal of early morning sunshine.  That sunshine tends to fade this afternoon as clouds move in from the west, foreshadowing the rain storm to come.  Highs today reach near 40, allowing for more melting to take place.

Showers develop after midnight tonight, and temps rise late overnight into the mid to upper 40s by daybreak.  We’ll have plenty of milder air in place tomorrow with scattered showers in the morning and locally heavy rain by midday into the afternoon.  Both the morning and afternoon commute feature wet roads, but the best chance for bigger puddles, heavy rain, is during the afternoon commute.  In total, 1-1.5" falls across the area.  We’ll see gusty south to southeast winds too, gusting 30-40mph across eastern Mass.

Colder air returns this weekend and we’ll have to watch where/how close an area of low pressure develops on Saturday.  It may bring us a round of showers Saturday afternoon.  Those showers may mix with or change to some wet snow at night if the track favors it.  Just something to watch now.

Monday looks ok with mostly cloudy skies and temps in the mid to upper 40s.  Dry weather should prevail for the Sox.  Play Ball!
