Three straight days of sun (least of which was today) and WAY above normal temperatures. Another day where we hit 70 from Pepperell to Nashua. Elsewhere, it was mid and upper 60s (with the usual cool spots on the Cape/Islands holding in the 50s).
Clouds were sponsored by a weak storm that’s rippling by to the south tonight. Once it departs, skies will clear toward AM, and we’ll sit pretty in the coming days.
One of the rites of spring: ice out on Winnipesaukee. We’re getting there, but we still have a ways to go. Recent warmth has created a lot of open water, but still some huge sheets remain.

I have a running in-house bet with one of our engineers. I claim ice out on the 23rd (yikes) and he puts it at the 26th. I think I’m going down. The only thing I have going for me is a the above normal pattern into the weekend…and early next week.
We’re bathing in sunshine over the next few days. Up until this point, we’ve managed to keep the sea breeze at bay, but that’s about to change. I see it chilling the coast through Thursday as the winds remain light areawide. Why is that important? Because on any given day in the warm season, the sea breeze wants to come in. As long as the wind remains steady (10mph or more) off of land, it will keep it away. Watch for yourself this spring and summer.
Next threat for showers is Friday, and it’s only a 40-50% proposition. We are in brush fire season, so be careful on the trails, in the woods and overall until leaf-out.
