PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is temporarily discounting the cost to get an E-ZPass transponder ahead of the start of toll collections on the Sakonnet River Bridge.
The agency says the transponders will be available for $10, rather than the usual price of $20.95, for a limited time starting June 25. RITBA is also giving $10 credits for new E-ZPass accounts.
For the first time, anyone can buy a Rhode Island transponder, even if they live out of state. Discounted toll rates for the Newport and Sakonnet River bridges are available for those with a Rhode Island transponder.
RITBA is in the process of installing tolls on the Sakonnet River Bridge. They're expected to be in effect starting next month.
