Decent day for a parade—in terms of weather—just a bunch of clouds with a passing flurry as temps soar into the low & mid 30s. Enter the duckboats. Have fun & be safe. We also have a couple of other players on the field this morning—a developing low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico that is loaded with moisture as well as an arctic front loaded with…..arctic air. I think you find yourself rooting for this arctic front over the next 24 hours (like the times one might root for the Yankees to be beat the Tampa Bay Rays so the Sox stay in first place).

These two weather systems are both eye-balling New England but only one shall rule—-it will be the arctic front and that’s a good thing because this front prevents this Gulf Storm from affecting us. Had there been no front to the rescue I would be blogging about another 1-2 feet of snow but there is a front so it’s all about the cold.

This front will actually create some patchy light snow tomorrow morning but most towns receive an inch or less as this front passes across the region. This front will also send our temps from the 30s during the morning rush down into the teens by the evening commute (wind chills below zero at that time.) Friday is sunny but bitterly cold with morning lows below zero and afternoon highs only in the upper teens.

The weekend starts with sunshine but clouds quickly take over on Saturday and a few flurries arrive too. On Sunday some patchy light snow shows up which then becomes steadier snow by Monday and lasting right through Tuesday. It won’t be one monster storm but rather a series of small storms that supplies the region with light & steady snow for 3 days. By the end of the 3rd day (Tuesday evening) most towns will likely pick up between 8-12″ of snow—again…it will likely take 3 days to get to that number but the point being another foot of snow appears likely in southern New England. More on this in the coming days.

Pitchers & Catchers report in just over two weeks—Yankees, Rays & Sox pitchers.
