A 3-year-old child is in critical condition after getting rushed to the hospital Sunday evening in respiratory distress.
Police said that EMTs responded to the house on Alpine Street in Roxbury just before 10 p.m. after getting a call about a child not breathing. The child was taken to Boston Medical Center.
Homicide detectives were called out, which Boston Police say is common in an investigation with unusual circumstances. Police have not confirmed what the unusual circumstances are other than finding a 3-year-old child not breathing.
The DCF said the child is now in their custody as the investigation continues:
"The Department received a report on this situation and as we investigate in collaboration with law enforcement, custody of the child has been transferred to DCF." – Andrea Grossman, DCF spokesperson
