Thousands of runners joined in the Boston Athletic Association’s annual 5K Saturday, with some of the participants taking on an extra challenge.

The race began at Boston Common. Some runners, including 7’s Susan Tran, participated in the Blindfold Challenge Run. Runners paired up in teams, with one person blindfolded and the other guiding them.

The Blindfold Challenge Run raises money and awareness for the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. The organization helps visually-impaired children and adults live more independently.
