A school bus driver was charged after police said she showed inappropriate pictures to students on her bus.

Bus driver Deborah Digiampietro, 54, was driving students home from the Devereux School in Rutland last fall when the alleged incident happened. The school serves students with emotional and behavioral disorders, along with students on the autism spectrum. Students said Digiampietro showed them some inappropriate pictures while the bus was in the school’s parking lot.

"My daughter came home and told me that the bus driver was showing her inappropriate pictures of her lover," said Carole, a parent of one of the students. "She was having sexual, inappropriate conversations with my daughter and I was real upset."

Carole said she contacted the school and bus company, along with Rutland Police. Another mother contacted the Department of Children and Families.

Van Pool, the school bus company, said it conducts background checks on its drivers. It also released this statement:

"We are troubled by these allegations as Van Pool’s priority is the safety and well-being of our students. We regard transporting each of our students every school day as a great responsibility."

Digiampietro was charged with providing obscene material to a minor.
