SALISBURY, MASS. (WHDH) - A Salisbury woman convicted of poisoning her boyfriend with chemicals found in antifreeze and eventually killing him, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday.
Judy Church, 67, was convicted of first-degree murder on Monday. She will not be eligible for parole.
Prosecutors say Church killed her boyfriend, 55-year-old Leroy Fowler, in 2022, because she was jealous he was dating another woman. Church mixed chemicals found in antifreeze into Fowler’s drinks.
“Losing a loved one is painful no matter what, but when it happens at the hands of someone else, it brings a pain like you’ve never felt before. Leroy is deeply missed by our family, beyond anything we could ever say in words,” a family member of Fowler’s said in court.
Church claimed Fowler was already in declining health before he died.
