SEYMOUR, Conn. (AP) — An assistant principal at a Connecticut high school who was charged with drunken driving will keep his job after serving a 20-day suspension.
The Republican American of Waterbury reports that the Seymour Board of Education voted to allow Seymour High School assistant principal 44-year-old Paul Lucke to return to work.
An arbitrator recommended last month that Lucke should keep his job.
Lucke was placed on administrative leave after he was charged with driving under the influence in December in Naugatuck. He was later granted entry into a court alcohol education program, which if he completes successfully, will lead to a dismissal of the charges.
Lucke’s attorney, Eric Brown, says his client’s “poor decision” in no way defines him as a leader and mentor.
