HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) — Promoting healthy relationships among teenagers is the focus of an upcoming school safety conference in western Massachusetts.

The Safe & Healthy School Summit is sponsored by the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, along with the Massachusetts Teachers Association and National Educator’s Association.

The 5th annual summit being held Tuesday in Holyoke will concentrate on how schools can help teens build healthy relationships and avoid dating violence.

Attorney General Maura Healey is scheduled to speak about the need for a cultural shift in light of statistics showing that about one in three young people have experienced some form of abuse within a relationship.

Among other topics at the conference is how schools can respond to incidents of so-called “sexting” by students.
