The school van driver accused of a deadly hit and run crash in Dorchester in January will face a judge Friday.

Police said 34-year-old Melissa Benedict hit a man and then kept going.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police found the van about a mile away.

Benedict told police she was adjusting the heat and pulling down the visor at the time of the crash.
