A life saving drug could soon be carried in some local schools.

The Agawam superintendent says all public schools in the Western Massachusetts city could soon carry Narcan.

Narcan is the drug used to reverse the effects of a heroin or prescription pill overdose.

The plan calls for nurses and district officials to be trained on how to administer the drug.

They hope to have it available by the start of the next school year.
