SCITUATE, MASS. (WHDH) - A Scituate church held its final service Sunday.

The Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Church is being shut down as part of the archbishop’s plan to consolidate parishes.

Supporters of the church have held a continuous vigil for more than ten years protesting the decision to close the church.

Members said the closure won’t discourage them.

The church members even appealed their case to court, but the highest state court denied to hear it.

The church was closed 11 years ago following a sex abuse scandal.

The ruling said the parishioners can be forced to leave the site, but the parishioners said they will keep trying to get the church back open.
