The senate failed to move forward with legislation to curb gun sales during a vote Monday.

Democrats were called to ban people on the no-fly or terrorist watch lists from buying guns.

They also called to prohibit private gun sales without background checks.

Republicans wanted to upgrade background checks and then delay sales to people on terror watch lists.

The voting came after a 14 hour-long filibuster by senate Democrats last week, following the shooting in Orlando.
