Seven people were injured after a harbor cruise boat hit a pier while docking in San Diego.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon at the Embarcadero area.

The bow of the boat was badly damaged.

A mechanical malfunction is blamed for the crash.

The boat was carrying 144 people at the time.

The passengers stayed on board the Adventure Hornblower, a 150-foot-long yacht, after the crash. A tugboat pulled the boat away from the pier to position it so people could disembark.

The 22-year-old three-deck ship offers bay dinner cruises, sightseeing tours and ocean whale-watching outings.
