MENDON, MASS. (WHDH) - Dirty conditions were uncovered during a health inspection at a Dunkin Donuts in Mendon.

The inspection came after the release of a disturbing video that showed an employee dropping a tray of doughnuts on the floor and placing them back on the shelf. The video got the attention of health inspectors after it was posted online by a former employee.

“When I walked in, it was absolutely dirty, the floors were dirty, there was ice on the floor, the counters were really dirty,” said health inspector Leonard Izzo. When Izzo inspected the store, he found several violations. The most critical were that the floors and food preparation surfaces were filthy, and the hand-washing sink wasn’t working correctly.

Izzo said the manager caught on camera told him the video that prompted the investigation was edited.

“According to the manager they didn’t show the person took the food out after replacing it with the new food,” he said. “She said she did everything she was supposed to.”

Some customers weren’t concerned about the findings.

“Anywhere you go you don’t know what’s going on, you take a risk no matter what you do,” one customer said.

Izzo said the manager was cooperative, and cleaned the store from top to bottom. No fines have been issued for the Dunkin’ Donuts at this time.
