BOSTON (WHDH) - A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for portions of much of the northeast until 8 p.m. Monday.
The watch was initiated around noon and includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Southern Vermont and coastal waters.
Preliminary threats include scattered damaging wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour and isolated large hail.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
People in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions.
