BATH, Maine (AP) — A Sagadahoc County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with aggravated assault related to domestic violence.
The Times Record reports that Deputy Matthew Shiers was arrested in Bath on Friday. Sheriff Joel Merry said Shiers has been suspended with pay while the Cumberland County sheriff’s office conducts an investigation.
Shiers, who is 35, has been employed by the sheriff’s office since 2006. He was released on bail Friday. A phone number for him could not be located and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.
