We have had a rather large dome of High Pressure up near Burlington VT for the past few days. This dome of High Pressure essentially blocked Hurricane Joaquin from making a left hand turn into New England. #Yay. This area of High Pressure–due to its location–has supplied us with a cool (chilly) northeast wind for days but that High Pressure has no shifted a little closer to us overnight and that will put an end to that chilly northeast wind. Granted, as I blog it is quite chilly right now but we have a full day of sunshine. That sunshine isn’t as strong as it was back in August but it can still flex a little bit and even with limited strength, will push our afternoon temps up near 70. Just a great fall day in store with ample sunshine, light wind and seasonably mild afternoon temps. We’ll do it all over again tomorrow!
By tomorrow night a cool front swings out of Canada and across New England. This front will quietly tip toe through New England with only a few clouds but it will usher in some cool air for Thursday. Not so much during the morning hours but once again the afternoon numbers as temps struggle to reach the low 60s. On Friday we see those afternoon temps make a healthy run back into the upper 60s by afternoon but there will be more clouds around. Those clouds are tied to another cool front that will usher in more cool–but dry–air for the weekend.
