BOSTON (WHDH) - Last-minute Christmas shopping was in full swing at the South Shore Plaza on Monday.

Many shoppers arrived right when the mall doors opened in the hopes of beating the rush — one family even squeezed in time to see Santa himself.

“We never had the chance to visit Santa so we made a point to go today,” the shopper said.

The happy boy who sat down with the big guy made it clear what he wanted for Christmas, “Toys!”

“I love the hustle and bustle of the mall and its holiday spirit. I really like it,” one shopper said.

“I’ve never shopped on Christmas Eve, so this is a first for me,” one woman said.

Some shoppers were spotted walking around with bags hanging from the arms. Others were still searching for that perfect gift.

“All the toy aisles are empty,” said Salinda Wong. “We’re struggling.”
