EASTHAM, Mass. (WHDH) — The Cape Cod National Seashore is now closed because of the government shutdown.

The Cape Cod National Seashore is now closed because of the government shutdown.

The road to Marconi Beach in Wellfleet and the Nauset Beach Lighthouse have also been closed.

One couple came all the way from Oklahoma to see and learn about the National parks in New England but the Salt Water Pond visitor center in Eastham was closed.

“Obviously, we're disappointed and upset at the congressional Republicans for shutting the government down,” said Glen Gebhart, visiting from Oklahoma.

“I think whatever's necessary to get our country operating the right way I guess is necessary,” said Bethany White, a park visitor against Obamacare.

The last time the government shut down back in the '90s, federal employees all got back-pay, but there's no guarantee of that this time.
