Now that the cold is here, it seems as though it’s determined to make itself at home.  We kicked off the New Year with temps down into the teens, and wind-chills that are too cold to even mention!  Thursday and Friday will feature a breeze out of the SW (10-20 mph) that will keep the wind-chill factor in the mix.

As for the storm this weekend – seems like a very similar “song and dance” to some of the storms we’ve seen so far this season.  The cold is in place, but it’s not going to stay in place for the entire event.  It looks like we could see flakes start to fly as early as Saturday evening.  The beginning burst of precip is snow for all of us, but as temperatures warm, the precip will change over.

NW of 495 and north of the Turnpike, we’ll want to watch out for very slick roads Sunday morning.  This area will be the last to warm, and a glaze of ice is expected for the morning hours.  By midday, it’s likely all rain for everyone… in fact, it’s so mild that some places could even hit 60 degrees with this brief burst of mild air (mainly in SE portion of the state).

The 50 degree high I have in my extended forecast sure looks like an anomaly!  The cold will return with a vengeance next week.

Let’s get started on those resolutions, shall we?!  Happy New Year, everyone!  – Bri
