It’s as if someone finally shook the snow globe last night and early this morning, allowing for bursts of fluffy snow to drop a general 3-4" of fluff across the area. Yes, a few towns edged higher than that across Southeast Mass, but overall, this was certainly a manageable storm. If you have to bust out the snow blower or shovel, at least it’s the easy to move type stuff. Overall, it’s a scenic winter morning with nice fluff on the trees as well.
For those of us heading into work this morning, the main roads have fared ok, despite some slick spots in heavy snow bursts. Some secondary roads are snow covered, so just allow for some extra time to brush off the car and travel to work.
For the kids that have the day off thanks to the holiday… have fun with it! After you help mom and dad shovel, perhaps get in a few runs on the local sledding hill? With 3-4" of fresh powder, it should be enough for that.
While the snow is the story early this morning, most flakes taper off by 8-9am. The story then becomes the wind as gusts 30-40mph makes it fell quite uncomfortable outside. Temps hold in the 20s, wind chill fall into the single digits late this morning and back below 0 tonight.
The pattern is quiet and cold through Friday, although the wind diminishes after tomorrow.
The next storm potential is with a coastal low by the start of next weekend. Yes, the potential for a big storm is there, but it’s not a lock this far out. I’m confident that the storm will form, it’s the storm’s track that’ll need to be fined tuned. Until then, stay tuned!
