There’s nothing like freshening up your look!

“I like doing cuts and colors,” says Katie Eberhardt, a cosmetologist from Revere.

Katie has been styling hair for years.

“I like helping the older folks,” she says, of her favorite clients. “Make ’em feel pretty!”

Katie loves making all her clients smile. To do that, she needs to renew her cosmetology license with the state board every two years.

“I get the paperwork in the mail,” says Katie. “I sign it, I write the check out, I send it back to Boston.”

This past spring, she mailed in everything that was needed, but there was a problem.

“I heard back from them in July saying that the check was too much,” Katie says.

She sent a new check for the amount the board said she owed and waited for her license to renew.

“And I’m still waiting!” she told Solve It 7 in December.

Katie was pulling out her hair trying to figure out what was causing the delay.

“My license is expired,” Katie says. “I can’t go to the stores to get my supplies. I can’t work on anybody’s head, nothing.”

Hoping to cut through the red tape, Katie called Solve It 7.

We contacted the state board in charge of cosmetology licenses. A representative told us Katie’s second check never arrived. She promised to have the board’s executive director call Katie directly. A short time later, Katie had what she needed.

“What do you have there?” asks 7News’s Kris Anderson

“My license!” says Katie.

Now she is buzzing with excitement because she’s back in business and back to doing what she loves.

“Thank you Solve it 7,” says Katie. “I appreciate everything.”
