While we’ve had flashes of Spring mixed in throughout the winter, by tomorrow, we’ll have the strongest taste of Spring so far this year as temperatures head for 70 degrees under a partly sunny sky. Personal day at work to burn? Tomorrow may be that day to pull the trigger. For the rest of us not playing hooky, the weekend forecast looks decent too, so not all is lost.
Before we bask in the 70 degree weather, we do have 40s and 50s to "deal" with today. Actually, it’s an easy day to deal with as temperatures inland head up into the mid to upper 50s with light winds. Along the coast, including the city of Boston, keep the jacket handy. The onshore breeze will add a chilly feel to the air as temperatures hold into the 40s.
While many towns near 70 tomorrow, it’ll be cooler (in the 50s) across the Cape and Islands and down through Buzzards Bay. The near record warmth tomorrow (record is 72 in Boston) is tough to hold this time of year and the transition to cooler weather on Thursday. Thursday is one of those days that’s a bit complicated to say the least. Temperatures likely start the day in the upper 50s and 60s, then as winds turn onshore, afternoon temperatures fall back with the mercury likely back into the 40s along the coast by late afternoon. Showers on Thursday are most widespread north of the Mass Pike Thursday, but become more widespread late in the day and at night.
Showers should end very early Friday with a mainly dry weekend in store as well. Temps this weekend range from near 50 at the coast to near 60 inland. Saturday is the brighter of the two days with more clouds Sunday and even the risk of an afternoon shower. A better chance of showers arrives Monday.
