Spring officially began early Sunday morning but it is being welcomed in with some winter weather.

After a relatively mild winter, the cold weather is making a comeback in New England. Spring storms are not entirely new to the area; New England has seen several significant snowstorms after St. Patrick’s Day. Two brought more than a foot of snow, including the April Fool’s Day blizzard back in 1997.

This season’s snowfall total is still well below normal. Meteorologists said to not expect the snow to stick around. The sun angle has gotten higher in the sky, which means any accumulation will not survive for long.
