SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A pair of sisters in Springfield, ages 6 and 14, have been missing since Sunday.
Their mother, Kristy Reim, tells The Republican newspaper that 6-year-old Madyson "Mady" Figueroa and her 14-year-old sister, Janessa Figueroa-Reim, were last seen walking in their neighborhood at about 11 a.m.
Police officers, including a K-9 unit searched the neighborhood Sunday into Monday as temperatures plunged below freezing. Police were also checking into Janessa's Facebook posts.
Reim says Janessa is a good teenager and homebody who has never left or gone to sleep at a friend's house without telling her. Her family says it's unlikely she would want to stray too far from home because she has her little sister with her.
Anyone with information about the girls is asked to call Springfield Police.
