It’s not the heat…it’s the humidity– Said by many and a phrase that has stood the test of time. We continue to be tested by that dang humidity and no relief from the muggies until Wednesday of next week! The culprit is normally a friend of ours…High Pressure. It’s anchored near Nova Scotia and the air flowing around this bubble of high pressure is flowing off the warm, moist Atlantic ocean–southeast of Nantucket and shoving that humid, ocean air up into New England. So far this High Pressure has also been able to provide us with a fair amount of sunshine and that’s the case again today. Good summer day ahead—albeit rather humid.
By tomorrow (and through the weekend) a weak weather system moves through New England. This weather system will spend its last day on Earth here in New England (pause a moment). What this system will do is:
1. Lock the tropical humidity in for the weekend
2. Create a lot of clouds–mostly cloudy skies for tomorrow & again on Saturday (partly sunny Sunday)
3. Produce a few showers each of the next three days. Western/Northern New England likely see the showers tomorrow. Most areas in New England see some showers on Saturday–again, scattered. While Sunday, only coastal locales/beaches run the risk of an isolated shower.
The one thing to take away from this blog about the weekend is that there will be dry weather each day–just not total sunshine. In terms of temps, not all that hot with the increase in clouds. I think afternoon temps will be near 80 each day but it will be that dang humidity that makes it feel uncomfortable.
Hang in there, winter is coming.
