BRAINTREE, MASS. (WHDH) - Local Republicans and volunteers for the Donald Trump campaign in Massachusetts gathered in Braintree Tuesday night to watch the results of the campaign unfold at Trump’s state headquarters.

Earlier in the day, volunteers made calls at a phone bank, hoping to get out the vote for others Republicans on the ballot.

Gov. Charlie Baker joined state Republicans in Pembroke Tuesday for the last-minute push. Party leaders said they are not focusing on the top of the ticket at this point but campaigning for the down ballot candidates, like Congress, State Representative and State Senate.

“Those positions really matter to people here in the Commonwealth,” said Baker.

Supporters at Trump headquarters told 7News that they feel “cautiously optimistic” as the numbers come in. Former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling is expected to make an appearance at the event.
