A man authorities say sexually assaulted a child in Massachusetts was captured in Florida on Thursday.
John Munroe, 75, was arrested on Thursday at a home in Deland, Florida months after he fled from charges of sexually assaulting a child, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Munroe was arrested in Fall River in September 2015 for sexually assaulting a child under 10, according to State Police. Munroe cut off a court-ordered GPS monitoring bracelet on Oct. 23 and fled, State Police said.
On Thursday, investigators learned Munroe was renting an apartment inside a home in Florida. U.S. Marshals and Volusia County officers set up surveillance on the home on Thursday morning, according to State Police.
Officers arrested Munroe at around 10:45 a.m.
Munroe was on the Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted List.
Munroe will be taken back to Massachusetts on the following charges: rape of a child with force, indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, aggravated rape of a child, enticing a child under 16, posing or exhibiting a child in a nude or lascivious manner and possession of child pornography.
